yo ho. – Closing Night
The Edge Off Broadway 1133 W Catalpa Ave, ChicagoPresented by Babes With Blades Theatre Company, yo ho. charts the journey of Anne Bonny and Mary Read, two pirates aboard a campy, sexually charged ship facing immediate threat from the crown. Equal parts historical fantasy and introspective sexual and gender exploration, this play is a deeply emotional reimagining and reminder of queer history.
CLOSING WEEKEND – BWBTC Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (STREAMING AVAILABLE)
The Edge Theater 5451 N Broadway St, ChicagoFour Athenians run away to the forest in the name of love (reciprocated and otherwise). They find themselves in the midst of a war between Titania and Oberon, the king and queen of the fairies, over a changeling boy in Titania’s charge. In the midst of this conflict, local workers are attempting (poorly) to rehearse a play to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of Duke Theseus to Queen Hippolyta. All the while, the mischievous Puck is guiding events and creating chaos for fae and mortals alike. Come see this magical Shakespearean comedy with a Babes With Blades twist!
