MEET THE BABES

Laura J. Wiley (she/her) is a lighting, projection, and sometimes puppet designer working in theater and dance. She is an Associate at Blades Theatre Company and the resident projection and lighting designer for Idle Muse Theatre Company, where she has been a company member since 2011. Her work was recognized as a Chicago Reader Best of 2024 Runner-Up for Best Theatrical Designer.

Recent designs include lighting for Babes With Blades Theatre Company’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, IdleMuse Theatre Company’s The Tempest, and Idle Muse Theatre Company’s What the Weird Sisters Saw. Other past collaborations with Babes include work with The S Paradox, The Duchess of Malfi, 180 Degree Rule and Patchwork Drifter.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Theatrical Lighting and Projection Design from Southern Oregon University. Some of her work can be seen at laurajwiley.com.
