Maureen Yasko

Artistic Associate

As an actor, fight-choreographer, musician, teaching artist, and director, Maureen Yasko (aka Moe) is extremely passionate about classical theatre and the art of stage combat. She made her Chicago debut three years ago in the title role of BWBTC’s all female production of Julius Caesar, while also serving as Fight Captain. Moe  was thrilled to become an Associate Artist with “The Babes” shortly after and has subsequently worked on Bo Thomas and the Case of the Sky Pirates (Minerva), L’Imbecile (The Queen/Fight Captain), Witch Slap! (Fight Choreographer), and all-female Titus Andronicus (Publius/US Marcus/Assistant Fight Choreographer/Fight Captain). Maureen is in love with Fighting Words, BWBTC’s script development program, and has appeared in several readings; fight choreographed a few final public readings; and directed the 2014 reading series of the script Mercury. She also happily serves as Box Office Manger and on the Marketing Committee.

Other Chicago companies Moe has worked with include A Crew of Patches Theatre Company, Midsommer Flight, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company, Infusion Theatre Company, Cor Theatre, The Factory Theater, Schaumburg Nutcracker. Maureen’s artistic home in Atlanta was with The New American Shakespeare Tavern, where she graduated from Apprentice to Company Member; performed in various productions; directed/taught Shakespeare in Atlanta Public Schools; worked on the box office staff; and assisted the Resident Fight Director.  Other Atlanta credits: Alliance Theatre, Aurora Theatre, Synchronicity Theatre, Onion Man Productions. Regional credits: Tecumseh! The Outdoor Drama, Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, National Theatre for Children, American Family Theatre, Johnny Appleseed Outdoor Drama, Savannah Shakespeare Festival, and Tybee Theatre Café.

Maureen is an Advanced Actor/Combatant with the SAFD (recommended certification in all 8 weapons), and proud to be a TA to Chuck Coyl at the Actor’s Gymnasium. She also holds a BA in Theatre, music minor from AASU in Savannah, GA and is an EMC with Actor’s Equity.
